April topic:  COVID-19 and the Housing Industry:  Where are we at and where are we going?

While many areas of the economy were hard hit by the COVID-19 global pandemic the Real Estate market seemed to defy the odds.  Is that growth sustainable?  What are the risk factors and opportunities moving forward for housing professionals and consumers?  This panel of leading housing professionals give us their thoughts on the road ahead.

We are proud to feature the following panelists:

Long Doan

Recently named one of Business Journal’s most Admired CEOs, Long founded Realty Group with a mission to re-imagine the agency-broker relationship.  Instead of taking a cut of the realtor’s commission, Realty Group provides ongoing training and the latest tech tools to empower their agents to succeed.

Realty Group also offers the most robust support team in the business, with dedicated Marketing, Agent Sales and Brokerage teams to help Realtors close more deals.

As a result, Realty Group is now one of the largest in the Twin Cities, with over 650 realtors and growing.  That desire to go out of his way for clients and other agents has been the secret to his success.  “What you give out into the universe, you seem to get back”.

Cindy Koebele

Cindy Koebele is the president and owner of TitleSmart, Inc., where she leads a talented and growing team to deliver the best closing experiences to clients across the Twin Cities metro area. Cindy’s constant pursuit of new ways to wow customers has earned her several awards, including being named one of the Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal’s Women in Business Honorees in 2015 and a 2015 EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award Winner in the Upper Midwest in the Insurance Services Category.

Cindy is a licensed title producer in Minnesota and Wisconsin, an active member of Title Action Network (TAN), the American Land Title Association (ALTA) and the Minnesota Land Title Association (MLTA). Cindy recently served for 6 years on the Executive Committee on the board of directors for Spare Key, a nonprofit with a mission to provide assistance to families in crisis with critically ill or seriously inured family members through housing grant payment assistance, engages resource referral and advocacy.

In addition to her work at TitleSmart, Cindy is also the author of the book Obsess to Success as well as two children’s books.

Scott FlahertyScott Flaherty

Scott Flaherty is founder and Chief Executive Officer of Lend Smart Mortgage, a highly respected and growing regional lender.  With 22 years of experience in an evolving industry, Mr. Flaherty has been directly involved with all aspects of mortgage lending but currently focuses his efforts in business development, marketing and corporate development.

Scott also has a unique understanding of compliance as someone with a long history of high volume personal production mixed with an analytical mind that can break down legal jargon.  His ability to explain regulatory matters in a clear and concise manner have gained him recognition as an exceptional public speaker.

Mr. Flaherty has a passion for sharing his success. He is a current board member and Past President of The Minnesota Mortgage Association, is on the MBAs executive council for independent mortgage bankers, is a Stephen’s Minister through Our Lady of Grace church in Edina and also chairs the Our Lady of Grace Ghana committee.
