The MMA is excited to announce the new Future Mortgage Leaders program. This three-part series will include training in all major components of mortgage lending, from “cradle to grave.”
The MMA Future Mortgage Leaders Program provides essential education in:
Mortgage lending, production, operations, capital markets, vendors (MI, title, appraisal, compliance), servicing, and more. The target audience for this program is a mortgage professional who has less than three years of mortgage experience, but all are welcome. We promise you will come away with more knowledge than you walked in with! Space is limited, so sign up today.
In order to successfully complete this program, you must attend ALL three sessions.

Sarah Johanns
Sarah Johanns is a 28-year Mortgage veteran, employed since 2014 by NewRez as a Sales Director. Having started as a processor, she has held several positions within the industry, including Direct-to-Consumer sales, Client Manager with Relocation, Wholesale Account Executive, Loan Officer, Vendor Rep, and now, Correspondent Sales Director for the Bank and Credit Union lending division. She was born in Jamestown, North Dakota, was raised in Decorah, Iowa, went to college at St. Olaf in Northfield, MN, taught school for 2 years in Amenia, NY, and moved to Minneapolis in 1993. She enjoys her 2 grown children, Max-age 23, and Kat, age 20, both at the U of M, her husband of 26 years, her 2 cats and her dog. She occupies her time by running, doing Corepower Yoga, waterskiing, cross country skiing, cooking, and traveling.
Greg Vacura
SVP Correspondent Pricing, Wells Fargo Funding.
Greg is a 29 year veteran of the mortgage industry. Currently Greg manages all of the Correspondent mortgage pricing activity for Wells Fargo Funding. Functions include the Mandatory Trade Desk, Priceline (best effort lock desk), revenue analytics, and correspondent pricing vendor relationships.
Mark Schlukebier
I joined Summit Mortgage in 2008 and have been working in the mortgage industry for over 15 years. My experience has allowed me to work in both retail and wholesale channels, providing superior customer service and keeping my clients’ best interests in mind.
I currently oversee operations in the closing, post-closing, secondary, and investor relations departments. When I’m not selling loans to investors, I enjoy traveling while trying to manage the schedules of four kids who play football, soccer, baseball, and hockey.

Charity Malmberg
Charity Malmberg is the President/CEO of Trademark Title Services and began her business journey, along with her husband Eric, in 2008. She is a dedicated and conscientious business leader whose philosophy to deliver services from a customer-focused approach, along with also supporting a culture of care and support for her Team, has been a winning combination for success. Beginning with just a handful of employees and one office, has now grown to 54 employees and 20 offices around the Twin Cities metro and southern MN locations. Charity is committed to generously supporting others, their goals and her community through her efforts inspiring leadership, supporting local organizations and providing opportunities to share her knowledge and expertise to those in the title and real estate industry. Charity has been a member of the Minnesota Mortgage Association since 2009 and has served in a number of capacities. Her past posts include the a Board member position, Co-Chairing role for the Educational Committee, and a Co-Chairing role on the Compliance Committee. Rob Schwartz
Rob has been a mortgage industry expert for going on 20 years. He has a bachelor’s degree from Concordia College in Moorhead MN in Business and Communications. Rob started his career in investment banking, which led him to the Mortgage industry. First as a loan officer for a large sub-prime national lender, then promoted to the branch manager within 9 months where managed pipelines of more than $70M on a monthly basis and more than 20+ mortgage professionals. He then was a mortgage broker for a number of years and then finally entered his role at Home Value Real Estate where he ensures a smooth operation of a multi-million dollar appraisal management company, generating new business, and launching new products. Rob enjoys living “up north” with his wife, two children, and dog; where in his spare time he could be seen fishing, boating, or driving one of his unique cars.
Julia Koski
With almost 30 years in the industry, Julia’s career path in mortgage banking is long and varied. She’s been with Enact for over 7 years in her role is an Account Manager and Customer Education Team member. Julia started as a loan originator, and has experience in sales, business development, operations and training management in both correspondent and retail mortgage lending.
She is the 2022 President of the Minnesota Mortgage Association (MMA) and has served on the board for several years. She was awarded the Industry Professional of the Year in 2019 by the MMA. Julia has a degree in Biology & Psychology from Macalester College, St Paul, MN and is currently working on her CMB designation with the Mortgage Bankers Association.
Mike Elwell
Mike Elwell manages sales and operations at Ancona Title & Escrow. He specializes in Growth and Development Strategies, such as lead generation seminars, business planning, database management and the art of working your business through your strengths. Mike brings 22+ years of experience in the real estate industry, with 12 years in Mortgage Origination and Training Development. He had served as V.P. of Operations at MN-Pro, consulting and developing curriculum for accredited real estate/mortgage classes approved by the State of Minnesota. Mike has over 20 years of public speaking experience, coaching, and proven business strategies that help realtor and mortgage professionals increase revenue and sales. Within 7 years, by leveraging these proves strategies, Mike and his sales team helped grow Ancona Title & Escrow from 1 office location with 12 employees to 10 office locations and 80 + employees which produced record sales and revenue for the company.
Ron Burand
Grew up in rural town of 331 people in south central MN. Come from a very large family where I learned at an early age
of what the dream of home ownership was and was the inspiration to join the mortgage industry, helping others strive for the dream of home ownership!

Kat Downs
Kat Downs has 19 years of extensive mortgage experience, including all aspects of the loan manufacturing process and has served in many operations’ leadership roles. Since 2017 she has been employed by KensieMae, a leading Fin Tech firm specializing in development of the Encompass LOS Platform. She is a Software Developer, Industry Consultant, Project Manager and current Operations Manager with a team of IDS Projects Managers and Developers reporting to her. She is an active volunteer in her local community in Hopkins and is a graduate of the U of M. She is a Jeep enthusiast, dog lover, mother of 2 grown children and she and her partner enjoy exploring Minnesota and Colorado restaurants and quaint hideaways.
Bruce Goldberg
Thirty year veteran of the mortgage industry, I have worn many hats in the industry; as an underwriting, account executive, qc reviewer, operations manager, and many others.
Currently as a Regional Sales Manager for Pennymac; I manage 13 Accounts executives who generate a couple of billion in loan production. Bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University. Happily married 23 years, Proud Father of Five! and US Navy Veteran.
Keenan Raverty
Keenan Raverty has working in banking for the past 30 years, and currently Chairs -Government Affairs for the MMA, as well as having a seat on the Minnesota Bankers Association Government Relations Committee. During his career, he has served as President and Board Chair for the Mortgage Bankers Association and the Minnesota Mortgage Association (twice), as well as many years on the Board and other leadership positions in our mortgage professional trade associations. Keenan has been asked to advise or give expert testimony/witness on mortgage matters for Department of Justice, the US Attorney’s Office, the FBI, the State of MN Senate and House, the Governor, Housing Commissioners, FHA/HUD, Fannie Mae, the Mortgage Bankers Association, among others. Keenan currently sits on the Mortgage Advisory Group at the State of MN/Department of Commerce, the Lender Advisory Group for the State of MN (MHFA) and is a founding member and Leadership Group representative for the Homeownership Opportunity Alliance, well as serving on the Board of Directors for the Minnesota Home Ownership Center, and Catholic Charities, and serves on Archbishop Hebda’s Lay Advisory Board. Keenan is passionate about helping serve the under-served in MN through mortgage lending, and previously served as Vice Chair for the Emerging Markets Homeownership Initiative. Keenan’s is still active in mortgage origination, and his day job is “writing mortgage loans” and overseeing MN Production for Bell Bank Mortgage, the state’s largest mortgage loan originator. Keenan lives in North St. Paul MN with his wife of 30+ years, Denise, and is the proud father of four children, Jack, Maggie, Erin, and Molly.
